Summer Internships in Biomedical Research for High School Students
Allows high school students to spend a summer working along leading scientists at NIH. Students are dispersed onto one of several laboratories, all dedicated to biomedical study. Students are also exposed to workshops, lectures, and career readiness resources. High school internships are separated into 3 programs: HS-SIP, HiSTEP, and HiSTEP 2.0.
Applicants must be 17 years of age or older by June 15 and should also be high school juniors or seniors at time of application. In addition, applicants must also be an US citizen of permanent resident who are enrolled in high school. If they will be 17 by June 15, they must also live within 40 miles within the NIH campus they hope to intern at. This does not apply to those who are 18 or older.
