Summer Writing and Journalism
Eligibility: Must be 14-18 year old girl

A year-round job where girls are able to discuss societal issues on live radio, create blog posts or short stories about their passions, make and edit videos, or run social media for girlz radio. Employees are expressed to a comfortable environment, where they can Express themselves and their thoughts on society in several ways. Students are expected to work 20 hours per week during the summer.
High School Journalism Workshop
Eligibility: must be in high school and have completed their sophomore year
Application Deadline: Final deadline is June 1st, however, applications are reviewed as soon as they are turned in, so try turning in your application asap.
One week free residential program for high school students hosted by Eastern Illinois University. Throughout the duration of the program, students are instructed on the fundamentals of journalism by day-to-day journalists, and must write several stories throughout the week. Students must gather information, and write, edit, and produce their work. Participants are also able to go on field trips, at which they can gain inspiration for their workings.
New England High School Journalism Collaborative Summer Workshop
Eligibility: High School Students

A free residential program for high school students throughout New England. Participants spend a week working with professional reporters, editors, and photographers to write, edit, and edit for a newspaper, as well as produce products for a website.
Princeton Summer Journalism Program
Eligibility: Must be a junior in high school, have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.5, meet at least one of the program’s socioeconomic conditions

A free residential 10 day program hosted at Princeton university for high school juniors. Participants are exposed to journalism and college prep classes taught by Princeton professors and editors at nationally renowned newspaper companies. Students also write, edit, and publish their work in their own newspaper: The Princeton Summer Journal. Students also go on field trips to news organizations, and receive help on their college applications.
YAWP Summer Writing Fellowship
Eligibility: Applications open to rising highschool 9-12th graders in the Boston area with an interest in writing

A 3-week summer writing program for teens residing in the Greater Boston Area. Participants are able to immerse themselves in creative writing and publishing by working with published authors on original pieces of prose, and take field trips to inspirational museums. Students also receive a $650 stipend upon program completion.
Science and Us
Eligibility: High school students

A youth-led nonprofit that helps students explore science communication, media, and policy through in-person Makeathons. They have recently created an online community for students interested in STEM communications on discord. Apply on website.
